Position Summary:
This position is responsible for developing and coaching a team of Store Managers/Supervisors who can successfully execute all company initiatives while ensuring that all financial results meet or exceed plan. It is the responsibility of the Market Manager to facilitate communication from the Operations Director to the Store Managers/Supervisors and vice versa. The Market Manager will make certain that all messages across the market remain consistent. This position will champion and facilitate the execution of all new company initiatives.

Job Requirements
Responsibilities that bring honor to the team :
- Directly supervises eight to ten Store Managers/Supervisors and coaches them to proactively motivate and effectively manage and support their teams.
- Actively develops business partner relationships with the Operations Director, HR Director and Manager, Learning & Development Director and Learning & Development Consultants, and Corporate Office (FSC) personnel.
- Develops and Builds Leadership Talent throughout the market by partnering with HR and Learning & Development to provide opportunities for high level performers; and recruits proactively from outside the company in order to improve the overall talent level within the market and/or district.
- Partners with the Learning & Development Consultant to ensure that all coworkers’ assigned training is completed thoroughly and in a timely manner.
- Ensures proper and effective execution of new company initiatives and policies.
- Reviews market and store performance reports and discusses trends or issues with Store Managers/Supervisors and coaches them to correct these issues or take advantage of opportunities.
- Ensures good financial results and profitability through execution of the fundamentals of customer service and operations.
- Spends 80% of the time visiting stores. During these visits the Market Manager will balance monitoring of store performance and compliance with coaching shop personnel on development opportunities.
- Focuses on key competitors and growth opportunities within the market and/or district and communicates findings to the Operations Director. This includes possible store start-ups and acquisitions.
- Collects and offers feedback on current programs and communicates identified best practices within the market to the Operations Director.
- Responds to distinctive features of local markets to achieve the best results.
- Empowers the Store Managers/Supervisors to be decision makers while staying consistent with company/district strategies and/or policies.
- Controls the market talent level and moves coworkers around to improve performance or respond to sudden needs.
- Builds good will and relationships within the communities in which we operate.
Experiences / Requirements that help us strive for excellence:
- College Degree or Equivalent Experience
- 2-5 years of management experience, preferably in a multi-unit environment
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, Word, Outlook and Excel
- Ability to coach and develop others
- Experience in leading from a distance
- Detail oriented
- Ability to read and analyze financial reports
- Excellent interpersonal, listening, verbal and written communication skills
Keys to Effectiveness:
- Ability to Evaluate Talent. It is essential that the market be well staffed with great people at all levels. Strong bench strength is a must. The Market Manager is responsible for evaluating the market team for successors at each level. Team members that are high performers must be recognized and given opportunities; weak performers must be discussed with HR and addressed appropriately. Strong recruiting and hiring skills is a trait that will ensure the effectiveness of a Market Manager.
- Results and Business Focused. To be effective, the Market Manager must exhibit strong business acumen in order to properly identify factors influencing performance. The Market Manager must provide a solution and an action plan that will positively affect performance.
- Coaching Skills are Imperative. Developing a strong team requires that the Market Manager use strong coaching skills to teach and develop the team of Store Managers/Supervisors. Coaching skills should be used to encourage and grow the behavior and skills that make a Store Manager/Supervisor successful as well as correcting those behaviors that lessen a Store Manager’s/Supervisor’s effectiveness.
- Strong Relationship Building Skills. The relationships that a Market Manager builds contribute greatly to the market’s success. The Market Manager must build relationships with those within the district as well as those outside the district. Effective Market Managers provide links to people that can fix a problem immediately. Each department within the FSC should be seen as a partner in building the success of the market. In some instances the Market Manager may need to influence without authority and the existing relationship will determine the success of that influence.
- Uses Good Judgment and Sound Decision Making Skills. Market Managers deal with any number of difficult situations on a daily basis ranging from personnel issues to problems with facility maintenance to customer complaints. In most of these situations a decision must be made quickly. Even though the decision is made in a short timeframe, it must always comply with company strategy while meeting the needs of the store/customer/coworker.
