Job Summary:
Under the direct supervision and direction of MRI and CT Technologists, the Technologist Aide will provide ancillary support services to patients, technologists, and Radiologists during advanced diagnostic imaging procedures. The Tech Aide will also be responsible for preparing patient supplies and equipment for diagnostic imaging procedures. In addition they will be required to escort patients from the Facility lobby to the MRI and CT areas and process the patient for their exam. This position will report directly to the Clinical Manager. This job involves risk of exposure to blood and body fluids under the normal work routine.
Job Requirements
Responsibilities:General responsibilities for Tech Aides in all modalities shall include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:
- Shall have general knowledge of the equipment and accessory equipment required to prepare patients for diagnostic imaging in their assigned area(s).
- Shall have a general understanding and knowledge in the preparation of contrast injections, sedations, preparation of imaging suite for examinations, examination protocols, and preparing sterile fields for diagnostic procedures.
- Shall have a general understanding of quality assurance procedures necessary for diagnostic examinations.
- Correctly identifies and marks all diagnostic records for proper reporting and storage in the Radiology Information System and PACS software.
- Shall adhere to the safety policies set forth by Reno Diagnostic Centers (RDC) and is expected to have a thorough understanding of, and adhere to, all OSHA safety requirements and precautions as defined by all relevant agencies.
- Responsible for maintaining a safe and orderly environment and is responsible for the wellbeing and safety of the patients under their care as well as that of family members and/or visitors within the examination modality area.
- Shall report any incidents, accidents, or inconveniences involving patients to the Technologist on duty as well as the Clinical Manager, Director of Operations, or other management team member at the first available opportunity and be prepared to file a full and detailed incident report as needed.
- Shall assist in maintaining proper supply inventories in the imaging suites on a daily basis, as well as, maintaining all supportive and accessory equipment and supplies in an operable and clean condition.
- Shall demonstrate compassion and understanding toward patients and family members and assist in answering any questions.
- Shall comprehend and employ appropriate medical terminology as well universal abbreviations, symbols, terms, and phrases as defined by RDC.
- Shall utilize standard imaging/patient positioning protocols as outlined within departmental and administrative policies.
- Shall escort patients, as needed, to and from various departments in order to ensure patient safety, as well as, limit patient access to restricted or secure areas where confidential patient information may be seen or overheard.
- Shall consistently provide excellence in patient care and outstanding customer service for all patients and family members.
- Will promote good community relations by maintaining a high level of professionalism and demonstrating respect and compassion when communicating with patients, physicians, referring office staff, and insurance carriers. Will demonstrate, and serve as a role model for, courteous and professional etiquette at all times.
- Will promote teamwork by demonstrating a willingness to assist coworkers when needed and as time permits as well as maintaining a high level of professionalism when communicating with RDC Radiologists, referring physicians, nurses, technologists, management, and clerical/billing staff.
- Will assist in other areas and perform other tasks as assigned in order to promote overall operational efficiency.
- Shall observe and comply with all HIPAA policies and procedures in accordance with PHI access level and shall immediately report any improper or questionable use and/or disclosures of PHI to the HIPAA compliance officer through appropriate channels.
- Other relevant duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of two years prior experience in radiology scheduling, medical front/back office operations, medical assisting, or related field. College/trade school education may be accepted in lieu of experience depending on course of study. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and good typing skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
- Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills and be able to maintain a high degree of professionalism while working in a high-volume, high-stress environment.
- Should have experience with computerized office systems, medical records documentation, patient confidentiality regulations, and medical terminology.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Some Anatomy / Physiology understanding
- Trained and competent in Phlebotomy
- Experience with based medical office information systems.
- Bilingual (English-Spanish)
Physical Requirements:
- Position requires frequent bending, stooping, lifting, assisting patients onto x-ray table, pushing carts, gurneys, wheelchairs, large radiographic equipment and accessory equipment.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted
