Basic Purpose
Provides onsite support and manages overall environmental compliance at the company's generating stations. Provides project management on technical and strategic projects related to the overall views and objectives of the company's policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provides support in day to day environmental compliance activities.
- Ensures timely and accurate inspections, sampling, analysis, compliance testing, recordkeeping, monitoring, reporting and training required by facilities permits.
- Recommends appropriate monitoring equipment; oversees installation and testing.
- Advises, educates, and supports plant management in maintaining compliance with terms and conditions outlined in facilities permits.
- Coordinate and assist with corrective actions resulting from audits or agency inspections.
Builds positive working relationships with external parties to promote the company's environmental stewardship efforts.
- Participates in working groups with regulatory agencies and industry trade organizations.
- Implements training and education programs; makes special technical presentations as needed
- Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with regulatory agency personnel
- Functions as key point of contact to environmental agencies for plant compliance issues.
Ensures appropriate environmental permitting; acts as lead for large, complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
- Leads activities such as budget estimates, economic analysis and project scheduling.
- Lead consultant selection process and performs project management for large, complex multi-disciplinary projects.
- Contributes to the preparation and review of new permit applications and permit renewals.
Performs related duties as assigned.

Essential Education, Skills, and Environment
Education and Work Experience
Bachelor's degree in the area of specialty and 6 or more years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Ability to develop innovative solutions to diverse environmental challenges encountered at generation facilities. Experience leading complex permitting and compliance projects in an electric utility or industrial organization. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and experience developing and maintaining federal, state and local agency relationships. Excellent knowledge of federal, state and local environmental permitting regulations. Broad knowledge of hazardous waste, hazardous material handling, storage, and transportation regulations.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
General office environment. Ability to access all areas of respective facilities and sites. Ability to walk/hike in remote areas to identify plants and wildlife.
